Engine Industry

Nearly all wearing components of combustion engines have been tested by RTM: automotive, utility vehicles and marine engines as well as aircraft turbines. The first 5 figures of the light box demonstrate the application of the RTM measuring technique in different motor tests of our customers.

Oil Industry

Developments of lubricants and additives in order to improve anti-wear and anti-corrosion properties. For this purpose, the wear of a cam follower is investigated at a motor test bench, e. g.

Vehicle Industry

Figure 9 shows a brake disk of a train in irradiation position facing the cyclotron beam line tube. Also complete railway wheel sets can be processed.

Process instrumentation and control

Figure 10:  Setup for irradiation of a conduit bend for an ethylene plant. Radioactive labeling in the section with the strongest bend allows for continuous measurement of the inside material removal during service and thus the reliable scheduling of servicing and commissioning tasks.

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning

An RTM compressor test bench for online wear measurement of refrigerant compressors has been developed. Figure 11 below  -  run-in wear of a  piston of a refrigeration compressor.

Biomechanics

ZAG Zyklotron AG offers a RTM measuring system, proven in practice, for online wear measurements of artificial bone joints in simulators in the sub-microgram-region, and the radioactive labeling of artificial bone joints (metal, ceramics, UHMWPE).
